The MAF FITNESS NEWSLETTER is a monthly publication dealing with a variety of topics relating to health and fitness - exercise theory, philosophy, and performance, along with a smattering of information on nutrition, medical matters, anatomy, exercise physiology, and whatever else strikes my fancy.
Simply the initials of the author of the Newsletter - Michael A. Fenner. I graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.S. in Social Science in 1965, and after a stint in the U.S.A.F., and about 20 years as a computer software test engineer, I decided to make a career change to the area of physical fitness. Having been a mediocre but enthusiastic athlete all of my life, including serious amateur road racing (10 Ks to marathons) in the mid to late seventies, I finally found my calling at nearly 50 years of age. The Newsletter staff is rounded out by Dick Fulton, a good friend and full-time computer software engineer who graciously donated his time to create the MAF Fitness Newsletter Archive website, and to maintain it by adding new issues monthly.
As both a certified personal trainer and strength trainer, and lifetime student of fitness, doing the research for the Newsletter has become my primary activity, as opposed to actual training. I especially enjoy trying to answer people's fitness questions. I don't find answers for them all, but I promise to try.
